Energize Your Creativity

I didn’t put out my newsletter last week because it didn’t feel right.

Are You a Feeler [Creative]?

We’ve all done personality quizzes and sort of know what makes us click. The one I have liked most is the quiz that Cyndi Dale developed based on eleven main chakras to determine our strongest gift or gifts. The first time I took it, about ten years ago, one of my top gifts was Feeler, which is all about the sacral chakra in the lower abdomen, also known as the second chakra.

The Feeler is all about being creative, feeling and expressing our feelings and picking up on the feelings and the emotions of others. One of the downsides of the Feeler is that if they don’t like something, they are likely inclined to avoid it. And motivation to complete things can be lacking if the project is not Fun. I didn’t put out my newsletter last week because it didn’t feel right. Yes, I’m a Feeler.

Are you a Feeler? How does it manifest in your life?

Even if you believe Feeler is not your top gift, everybody needs to have enjoyment, laughter and fun in their days.

Make Sure You Play Everyday

I know that for me, when I am too serious, too focused on day-to-day stuff, I can lose some spontaneity. When that happens, it’s time to take stock and ensure I’m finding ways to be creative.

I’ve created a list of 5 of my go-to activities.

But, I’m curious, what are some of the ways you keep your creative spark going?

Here are some things I do.

Dialogue with other creatives. It helps that I live with one. Just today we talked at length about his main character’s appearance.

Have an active creative project going. Once a week I meet in real-time with a friend to co-create a fantasy novel.

Read. Fiction. Science fiction. Fantasy. Whatever genre you like most. Even non-fiction. I sometimes challenge myself with theological books over my head. I recently finished Saving the Appearances by Owen Barfield, a friend of C.S. Lewis. I understood maybe about 75% of it. I loved the challenge of it.

Play word games. I play Super Scrabble weekly with my family. I rarely win but I cherish our time together and stretch my mind learning new words. I play Wordle and Yeardle daily and exchange results with my husband.

Journal and Meditate. Looking inward is the most exciting journey we can do. Since our visible presence is only about 2% of who we are energetically, there is a lot of undiscovered territory to explore. Remembering and writing down or recording our dreams is a rich field of discovery and potential ideas for new creative activities and projects!

What is Your Daily Creativity and Fun Quotient?

I’m making this up. Let’s say Creative Fun = Activities X Time X Space. Ok, here goes:

My Example: Creative Fun = Playing Wordle X 5-30 minutes each evening X my cozy sofa

Make it Numerical:   Creative Fun = 1000  Activity = 10  Time = 10  Space = 10

So: 1000 = 10  X  10  X  10

I did it! My Daily Creativity and Fun Quotient is 1000

I had fun just making this up for my newsletter to share with you.
